Fall family photos in New Jersey are pretty magical! The combination of golden hour light + the amazing foliage makes for the most beautiful family photos.. it's no wonder why it's my most busiest season as a photographer.
Whether it's a new family of three (or four.. including their pup like this family!), a family of five or maternity photos.. my Fall calendar is filled to the brim. And, I am so grateful!
What are all of my clients using these photos for? So many of my clients add taking their photos with me to their annual Fall traditions.. how cool is that!? My clients also love to use these portraits for their holiday cards. It's close enough to the holidays to show how grown their kiddos are and gives them enough time to send them out rather than taking pictures super late in the year and having their cards arrive late.
I offer a variety of locations for my Fall portraits. We pretty much go anywhere from Verona, Ringwood, Rutherford, Montclair, Nutley and Wayne New Jersey. The options are endless! But, I do like to keep it pretty local for my clients so they don't have to drive too far with their little ones. Unless they are willing to travel a bit!
The best time for photos are late September to the middle of November. I stop scheduling outdoor family photos about two weeks before Thanksgiving. How come? Because I want to make sure you have these photos in time for the holidays. Besides using their photos for their holiday cards, so many of my clients love to use them as Christmas gifts! Taking advantage of the earlier sunset times is perfect for your little one's schedule, too!
Another reason I cut off bookings at that time is because it can get pretty cold here in Bergen County as the season goes on. It's no fun for anyone and I want everyone to be comfortable and HAPPY! No cold, pink noses, unhappy dads, shivering kids and rushed photos. I pride myself in creating a peaceful environment for your family photos so I will make sure we are in comfortable conditions.. it's not worth making your family miserable for photos when our goal is to capture your love and connection.
If Fall is your favorite time of year, I suggest choosing this time to schedule your family photos or maternity session! Being able to photograph all the fun, loving, silly and sweet moments in general is humbling but during your favorite season is just the icing on the cake :)
