I love being an on-location portrait photographer. The combination of your family's connection, the gorgeous golden hour lighting, the natural beauty New Jersey offers us as a backdrop all lead to stunning art for your most precious memories.
But... what do we do if it rains!?
The forecast can be a real bummer but I can ensure you that everything is going to work out the way it's supposed to and it'll pan out to be even better than we hoped for!
Choosing a backup rain-date
When you book your session, it's best to come up with two possible dates to keep one as a backup in case of bad weather. That's the easiest way to relieve potential stress leading up to your session. If we don't choose a backup date right away upon booking we will find another date once we figure out the weather isn't cooperating.
At what point do we reschedule?
To eliminate stress my policy is to decide the night before or morning of. When it's 50% chance or more, we will reschedule for a new session date. From personal experience I find that this is the best and safest option.
Do you reschedule when it's an overcast day?
Nope! When it's overcast the lighting is beautiful and soft. If you really have a preference for it to be sunny to get that golden hour light I can reschedule if you really, really want to.
All in all.. It's important to me that we all have peace of mind going into a our session. Yes, it's not great for my equipment to be caught in the pouring rain but I want you to be comfortable, too! I'd hate for you to get yourself ready and your family, drive to your session just to have to turn around or have your session cut short. I know it can be disappointing to have to reschedule but the weather isn't in our control - and every time this has happened our rescheduled sessions are beyond gorgeous... AKA everything happens for a reason :)
