Hello internet world! I have set a new goal for myself & my business. BLOGGING! It's something I know I should have been doing for a while now, but life happens and the thought of coming up with all the right words for a session is overwhelming. But, today is the first day of a new weekly routine. I figure I should start with my first session of 2020 back in January.
As an On Location Photographer, my Newborn Sessions take place in the comfort of your home. I find that the whole family is more comfortable and your gallery will be like no other.. it adds a whole new sentimental meaning to your family's story. This was the second time I got together with the DeRosa's for a Newborn Session. The first time I photographed them, they were a new family of three, welcoming their little girl Cooper. Now, they're a family of four with their new little dude, Bodhi! What I love most about photographing this family is their interactions with each other. It was also a plus that they've done this with me before, so basically they're professionals ;)
I get a lot of questions and concerns when it comes to getting a sibling shot during a Newborn Session. Honestly.. it can be tricky. Depending on their age, they may be too young to understand the fragility of a newborn or they simply want nothing to do with their new baby sister/brother. It's so new to them, so of course they're skeptical! But, when it comes to our session.. that's where the lovely word, "patience" comes in. It's my goal to get that sibling shot. It's important for me to build a relationship not only with the entire family but with your "big little's". In order for them to be guided into that shot, they have to trust me. This process is one of my favorite parts of your session. I get to be super silly with them, your child will show me their favorite toys (or in Cooper's case, mommy's makeup!) & their room. Once that trust is there, that's when we can get that portrait. It may take some time or a little bribery but we're going to get it no matter what!
After we created some amazing family portraits of the four of them together, Bodhi was hungry.. as he should be! During feedings I mostly take that time to grab some water and look through the images we've created so far. During this session, I went downstairs and found dad and Cooper hanging out & there were moments I could not resist photographing! Like having lunch, singing, dancing & doing some light stretching together in the kitchen!
This was a great way for me to start the year & I can't wait for all the new squishy newborn babies :)
