Why are Fall family photos so popular?

• The Fall foliage.. duh!  We're pretty lucky here in New Jersey to get gorgeous colors.  The yellows, reds and oranges highlight so beautifully during your Golden Hour session (AKA Sunset or Sunrise!).  It's hard to beat that background for your photos!
• The sun sets earlier!  Scheduling your family session in the Summer is tough with little ones because my outdoor sessions are during Golden Hour (one hour before sunset) and that can be pretty late.  But, in the Fall the timing is earlier and doesn't disrupt their normal routine.
• Temperature!  Do you hate sweating in the Summer heat and worry that you're going to look like a hot mess during your session?  Well, September-November sessions is where it's at!  It's the most comfortable time of year, not too cold and not too hot!  Also, I stop booking outdoor family sessions the second or third week in November.  From experience, the colder it gets the less enjoyable it is for your little ones.  Even your husbands/partners that are reluctant to take photos in the first place.  We want everyone to be comfortable and we want to eliminate red noses, shivering kids, grumpy spouses and heavy coats.
• Christmas Cards!  100% of my clients who book their session in the Fall use those images for their Christmas cards!

Why is scheduling Fall family photos so difficult?

• First, I try to make it as easy and stress-free as possible by opening up my calendar about a year in advance.  So, it's never too early to book your session during my most busy season.  But, being that it is such a busy time for Rhiannon Livardo Photography and so many of you.. weekends are limited and the clients who book a year to six months in advance snag those dates up first!  The longer you wait to reach out, the less likely it is to schedule on your desired session date.  But, don't forget weekday dates are more likely to be available!
• Fall means the beginning of school, sports, birthday parties, activities, etc.  Your calendar gets busy, I get it!  But I know so many of you consider your Fall family session a yearly tradition so it gets considered part of your busy schedule!
• All of the reasons you see above about why they are so popular!  It's most people's favorite time of year which means my calendar is filled to the brim with sessions.  As much as I wish I could shoot everyday, it's just not possible.  I'm proud to say I have a pretty quick turnaround time and when there are sessions every single day, I just can't send you your photos as quickly as usual.
