One of the biggest concerns clients have is where will their session be. A lot of times we think we need to be at a well known park or somewhere that at first sight is gorgeous. However, as a photographer.. I see the beauty EVERYWHERE. All I need is beautiful light and when I use the appropriate lens, it can transform the location. I do love shooting at the beach and well known parks or reservations but sometimes, those locations are filled with other people and can cause a little bit of stress and anxiety for my families and myself. It can be a challenge to dodge other people enjoying the park in your background or if we're somewhere extremely popular there are a lot of other photographers there, too. When we're at a location with many other visitors it can be distracting for the kiddos and even the adults. So, I love finding somewhere quiet in my hometown and other towns surrounding us.
All of the below photos are taken at locations that you would never think to use for a photo session! The first image was taken at Cobblestone Hill in Carlstadt, NJ. It's simply a Cobblestone road that isn't that busy. It makes an interesting background and can be shot at all different angles to capture really unique moments.
The image of the mother and daughter in front of the yellow flowers were taken in front of someone's home! I saw this giant yellow bush and I knew it would make for a great photo of mom and daughter.
A lot of the below images are taken at the Rutherford Community Garden. Next to that Community Garden use to be an abandoned building that they knocked down so there's all this grass area along with old rail road tracks that people use as a path to walk their dogs. But, it makes for a great location for a photo session!
Some images were taken in the middle of the street or at an RV campsite that is crowded with RVs and people, but if you take a short step away, there were beautiful trees that the sun was coming through and it made it more private and beautiful.
