The most asked question I get from my clients is.. what should we wear!? Well, I've got you! When I started out seven years ago, I honestly never thought about it. I was just excited to photograph people and create beautiful art for them. As I was becoming more established I learned how important it is to not only feel your best during your session but look your best, too!
I know not all of my mom's love to wear dresses, or some of the dad's you see here on my website don't like to wear a button down shirt. And you don't have to! All of the styling magic starts with a questionnaire. I ask you a series of questions like what color looks best on you, where do you typically shop, what concerns or dislikes you have and more! Once I receive your answers, then I start working on your styling board!
When you factor in your colors, think about what your color scheme is for your house. It wouldn't make sense if your home is neutral and your clothes in your images are bright and vibrant. Another factor is the season we're in, too.
There is no pressure to purchase the clothes I send you.. you might already have something similar in your closet or find a better price at a different store. After sending you your board, I will give you some time to review it and then I will reach out to follow up to see what we're working with or if you have any questions.
We've come a long way since the 90's.. everyone in blue jeans and white shirts I'm sorry to say.. are out! Instead we chose 2-3 colors and coordinate from there. When you go with just one color it tends to look too matchy. Layers, textures and patterns all photograph beautifully! We don't want to go crazy with a lot of pattern but when 1-2 family members has some it works.
Below is an example how mom and I worked together to create the best look possible for their Spring session in Verona, NJ. You'll see the styling board I put together for her and how it beautifully came together at our session!
Shout out to my favorite tool, Style & Select for making all of our styling dreams come true & super easy!
